Complete Review: Uriage Xemose Anti-Irritations Cerat

Uriage Xemose Anti-Irritations Cerat is a balmy, thick, soothing cream for atopy skin that helps heal dry, irritated, and reactive skin.

Pros and Cons Shortcut

Uriage Xemose Anti-Irritation Cerat has been a part of my skincare routine for a few months now. Since the beginning of the cold season, in fact.

To tell you a little about my skin, I have combination skin that is prone to react to almost anything. Wind, cold, heat, dust, and so on. Lately, everything external irritates my skin. And like is not enough, it is oily on the T-zone, with sporadic blackheads on the nose that come and go, as well as dry under the eyes and cheeks. Lucky me!

So, as you can see, I’m dealing with an entire universe here but is not that bad. I should also mention that I’m working on incorporating a stronger retinol, a retinaldehyde cream, so I’m currently experimenting with my skin.

Based on my combination to dry, prone to react skin, this is my complete review of Uriage Xemose Lipid-Replenishing Anti-Irritations Cerat. Plus, my experience using it mostly on my face and hands to heal and control the inevitable dry skin and sensitivity caused by winter, as well as my experiments.

Formula

This cream’s formula contains 25% Shea butter, a powerful emollient with anti-inflammatory and protective properties, well known for treating dry, irritated skin.

It also contains Uriage Thermal Water, brand-patented Chronoxine, Cerasterol 2F, and TLR2 Complex, all of which help in restructuring, soothing, and regulating the innate immune barrier.

Essentially, these are brand technologies. Simply put, it is the process by which a company discovers a way to combine certain compounds to create a unique technology (at the very least, this is the most understandable explanation I’ve come across).

Active ingredients: Uriage Thermal Water, Chronoxine, Cerasterol 2F TLR2 Complex, 25% Shea butter

It also contains vitamin E, lactic acid, Brassica sterols, Raspberry Seed Oil/Palm Oil Aminopropanediol Esters, Butylene glycol, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Asiaticoside, and Phytosphingosine, resulting in a combination of humectants, occlusives, and antioxidants.

Skin type: extremely dry skin, skin prone to atopy (dehydration, itching, discomfort).

Formulated for: babies, children, adults.

Ideal for: Face and body.

Texture: balm-like texture, really thick. It’s like whipped butter; spreads well at body temperature.

Finish: Very dewy, maybe a little oily on T-zone if you have combination skin (for face use). It also depends on how much product you apply. For body absorbs quickly – dewy finish.

Fragrance: fragrance-free. However, it has a subtle, noticeable scent that I cannot describe. Is very subtle.

Usage: use daily on clean skin.

Results And Personal Opinion

Let me start by saying that I mostly use Uriage Xemose Anti-Irritations Cerat on my face and hands. However, it works great on the body also. It is recommended for both.

What I like about cream is that it soothes my occasional cold-related skin irritations and heals my dry skin when I need it to. Because I have combination skin to dry skin, and I also use retinoids, I have a lot of dryness on my cheeks and under my eyes.

I also like that the cream contains Shea butter. It’s one of my favorite ingredients to have in skincare products.

The cream spreads and absorbs well, has a pleasant balmy texture, and it feels refreshing on the skin when applied. I absolutely love the sensation.

It’s also great for the hands, elbows, and knees. My husband tried it and informed me it makes his skin feel much more hydrated and soft. Same available for my hands.

It’s a great cream for dry areas on my face also, but it’s a little too oily for my T-zone. But that’s to be expected. I have combination skin. What is easy to use on combination skin?!

Is not, however, pore-clogging. I didn’t notice any reaction around my chin or forehead, which are both prone to clogging when this happens.

How do I apply the cream?

I use the cream mostly at night as the last step in my skincare routine, so I don’t have to worry about the super dewy finish. I discovered that if I use a small amount of cream, the finish is acceptable (semi-dewy).

For a while, I also used it during the day, but I combined it with CeraVe moisturizing cream (on T-Zone) to cancel out the extra oiliness. CeraVe is more matte-looking.

To summarize, Uriage Xemose Anti-Irritations Cerat is an excellent cream for dry, irritated skin. It works wonderfully. It keeps the skin soft and free of irritation and reaction. Excellent for dealing with skin that is prone to react to almost anything.

It’s a little challenging to make it work on combination skin (if you use it on the face), but it works great when combined with another moisturizer adapted to your skin’s needs.

However, if you have dry skin and plan to use it on your body, it works amazingly.

Pros And Cons

Pros:

  • Super informative package
  • The jar comes sealed
  • Balmy formula, easy to spread, absorbs fast, non-sticky
  • Super rich and moisturizing, it helps a lot with dry skin
  • Helps with occasional redness and irritation
  • Works for body, face, and hands
  • Very dewy finish
  • Economically to use (it took me about three or four months to (almost) finish the jar. I still have about 20 applications left.
  • Fragrance-free (but I can detect a very subtle scent)
  • Hypoallergenic

Cons:

  • A little too oily for T-zone for those who have combination skin (face use)
  • Perhaps a little pricey? Around $25. However, I believe it is a reasonable price for what the cream provides
